Hand Technique: Palm Directions

Palm Directions

Palm Directions is one of seven Nia hand techniques that offer self-healing and conditioning benefits to your hands and entire body. This move trains you to direct movement by tuning into the directions of the palms of your hands: up, down, in and out. Learn to sense the rotation in your forearms, as well as the relationship between palm directions and the health of your shoulder joint. Use palm directions to connect to the space and world around you. Continue below for tips and video.

Tips:  Turn your palms up to open the shoulder joint, exploring mobility. Turn you palms down for stability. Explore one palm up, one down to harmonize. Like a tai chi artist, move with the intent to direct ‘chi’ by following your hands with your eyes. Watch and move to the video below to bring this hand technique alive!
